What is your biggest comfort blanket when it comes to beauty? For me it's my hair. I don't feel complete unless I have perfect beach waves or a middle parted bun. I feel like I have a long term history with my hair, forever being long, brunette and straight allowing me to style it into whatever look I want for that day. But the products I use on my hair are even more important, to achieve the perfect hold for a bouncy curl or a spray for that straight-from-the-beach look. Here is my hair product low down, everything I'm using for my favourite hairstyles.
The Loose Waves
One of my favourite everyday looks is loose waves. I love how this frames my face with my grown out bangs and I feel it looks so chic but with minimal effort. It is perfect for days when I don't have a lot of time, which lately is everyday... I am prepping my hair for this look with the Charles Worthington Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower, this leaves my hair silky and hydrated without getting greasy straight away, such a win for me. I do this in the morning then towel dry my hair and spritz with some Negin approved ~ Gisou Wave Spray through the ends and brush with my trusty Denman hairbrush, before rough blowdrying (always upside down to get maximum lift at the root) and finally dragging my Mark Hill curling wand out of its grave to wave my hair, I really need an upgrade on my curling wand, but you know what it's like I have actually owned it for 10 years I remember getting it on my 11th Birthday and I can't say goodbye. * it also isn't sold anymore.
The Slick Bun
Second day hair? Left your hair mask in and need to pop to the shop? The fail safe "glam in 10 seconds" hair look. I will always have a low bun in my batch of favourite hairstyles probably until I'm 50 years old, you can just never go wrong. I will usually do this style on second day hair as I don't want to wash my hair but it is not clean enough to have down, so I will prep my hair with OUAI Haircare dry shampoo, spraying at the root and then brushing through with my Denman Smoothing hairbrush. The key to this look looking super polished is the parting, using a metal tailed comb I ensure my parting is as straight as a ruler with no fly aways, smooth down with my hands and bring my hair to the back on my neck. I twist the hair around and curl it round into a bun before securing with a hair band, I wrap this round 3 times. Then to finish the look I spritz Playa New Day Mist spray to secure any fly aways and keep the hair slick.
Bouncy Blow Dry
I absolutely love the look of a fresh 'bouncy blow dry' but I could never achieve this at home until I dug out my mums old Babyliss Hot Rollers and I have never looked back. Every time I do my hair in this style my inbox comes flooding with questions on how I did it and what did I use. I always do this on fresh hair, just because I prefer how this looks. I wash my hair using the Christophe Robin Shampoo & leave in the Christope Robin Melting Mask for 3 minutes before rinsing out. I then towel dry my hair and spray the Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray all through the ends before brushing with.. oh you guessed it, my Denman Smoothing Brush. I will then blow dry my hair with a small sized round brush ensuring each section is sleek and completely dry. Meanwhile I will start to heat up my rollers. I put them in differing between the medium and large size depending on the desired look. Leave them in for around 15-20 minutes, when I take them out I very gently brush them through to get that smooth bounce.
